In order to reach border-crossing risk populations who are active in French Guyana the Malaria Program recently opened a permanent diagnostic point at Papatam (Albina). Gold miners working across the border will come and stay overnight at Papatam, where they can sell the gold and buy supplies and equipment. The official opening of the Malaria Cabin was done by the new Minister of Health, Ing. Patrick Pengel, and the Ambassador of Brazil in Suriname, Mr. Baumbach.
